When I look at Boris Diaw I want to say two things: “This guy could be a star” and “This guy is a bum”.

As with many NBA players, Boris Diaw played his ass off for the Phoenix Suns in his contract year. He was all over the court: scoring, passing,  and grabbing boards. And then all of the sudden he signs his contract, eats 14 Krispy Kreme donuts a day, and shows up to camp looking like he ate Muggsy Bogues. Here are Boris’s numbers before the signing of the contract: 13.3 pts, 6 asts, 7 rbs, 1 blk and almost 1 stl per game. Great numbers for a valuable cog in a great offense. Here are his numbers for this year: 7 pts, 3 asts, and 4 rbs. His FG% has dropped nearly .100!

Who is the real Boris Diaw? With the Hawks he average around 4 pts, 2 asts, and 3 rbs. Scintillating numbers. With the Phoenix Suns (besides that big contract year), his averages are 8 pts, 4 rbs, 4 asts. So let’s call that BIG year he had in 2005-06 an abberation.

And I’ll call Boris Diaw a bum.
